The Chicago Blackhawks hit the ice today for practice in anticipation of their next match on Friday versus the New Jersey Devils.

So far this season the Blackhawks fall in last place in terms of their penalty kill success rate and it has been an issue in every single game they play.

Tyler Motte has been responsible for five minor penalties three of which he received all during Monday night's 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames in shootouts.

According to today's practice lineups it seems that Motte has been relegated from the first line with Jonathan Toews and Richard Panik. Motte is currently lined up with fellow rookies Nick Schmaltz and Ryan Hartman on the third line. Perhaps coach Joel Quenneville is trying to keep the rookie player calm so he can focus and avoid giving away any more penalties.

Cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks as they take on the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night at the Prudential Center at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
