Long awaited news for the Detroit Red Wings

Major update regarding Red Wings no.1 goalie Jimmy Howard as he practiced with the team on Monday evening at the Joe Louis Arena. Howard had a 1.96 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage in 17 games before suffering MCL sprain injury in December against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

First 10 minutes was kind of rough on the lungs,"  said Howard after his full first practice since he's out of the show.

Howard missed is teammates and is really excited to be back around the team : "Feel excited to be back out there with the guys".  He's expected to join the Grand Rapid Griffins to get his game shape back and face a few shots before being recalled by the Wings.

"Look forward to getting down to GR and playing. Not really sure when that’s going to happen just yet. Right now, it feels good just to be back there with the guys."

Detroit Red Wings fans can expect to see Howard in a close future and it'll certainly help the team during the final stretch of the season.
