The Vegas Golden Knights are coming off two consecutive losses this week. They lost on Thursday to the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime and again yesterday as they lost 5-2 to the Washington Capitals. The Golden Knights must bounce back today as they play the Red Wings in Detroit this afternoon
Despite the back-to-back losses, Malcolm Subban who has started both games played some very good hockey and often kept his team in the game. That is why coach Gerard Gallant decided for Subban to start in front of the net this afternoon. Some may say that Marc-André Fleury is currently bothered by an injury. While this isn't confirmed, Fleury will be suiting up as Subban's backup for a third consecutive game.
As far as the rest of the lineup goes, only one change was made. Nick Holden will make his way back into the Golden Knights' defensive unit. Nicholas Hague will be the one to get the scratch.
Here is how the Golden Knight's should line up against the Red Wings this afternoon according to NHL.com correspondent Dave Hogg:
Forwards:
Jonathan Marchessault - William Karlsson - Reilly Smith
Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Mark Stone
Tomas Nosek - Cody Eakin - Cody Glass
William Carrier - Nicolas Roy - Ryan Reaves
Defensemen:
Brayden McNabb - Nate Schmidt
Shea Theodore - Deryk Engelland
Jon Merrill - Nick Holden
Goaltenders:
Malcolm Subban
Marc-André Fleury
Brandon Pirri and Nicholas Hague wil be the Golden Knights' healthy scratches today, while Alex Tuch is still recovering from an injury and Valentin Zykov is still serving his suspension.
The Red Wings are coming off a hard-earned victory against the Boston Bruins after going 1-11-1 in their previous 13 games. Look for them to fight hard tonight.
It should be a great hockey game once again.
