Malkin and Ovechkin pose for bizarre Russian propaganda
Reddit

It’s no secret that while NHL superstars Evgeni Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin can be bitter rivals on the ice, they’re good friends off the ice. As the two biggest Russian stars of their generation the pair share a mutual respect that goes beyond the game. It’s not uncommon to see them training together in their native country during the offseason, but this year’s training regiment is a little different.

That’s Ovi, Malkin, Red Army legend Slava Fetisov, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoygu and Russian political leader Andrey Yuryevich Vorobyov. The identity of the sixth man, the goaltender, is unknown.

Those are some major personalities in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner-circle that the NHL probably isn’t too happy to have two of its biggest stars linked to. Nevertheless, this type of propaganda is nothing new in the Russian political system, so perhaps this is just ‘another day in Russia’?
