The Toronto Maple Leafs are not adding any new players to their roster, but the return of some familiar names will come as very welcomed news on Saturday morning.

According to an official report from the Toronto Maple Leafs Department of Public Relations, the Maple Leafs have called up veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin and forward Trevor Moore from the American Hockey League effective immediately. Both men were down in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, Toronto's AHL affiliate team, on conditioning loans over the All Star break as they looked to bounce back from relatively serious injuries as the rest of the league was taking some time off for the All Star festivities.

In the case of Jake Muzzin, his return may be one of the most significant moves of the month for the Maple Leafs who have seen their blue line decimated by injuries as of late. Muzzin is second on the team in terms of average ice time this season, and the only man who has eaten up more minutes than him, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly, has also been sidelined by injury and currently remains on those sidelines. Getting Muzzin back will be a huge boost to the Leafs blue line, assuming of course that he has fully recovered from the broken foot that sidelined him in the first place. Muzzin has been off for over a month at this point and although he looked and felt good during his AHL conditioning stint, the jump back to the NHL will be a different beast.

In the case of Trevor Moore the young forward has been dealing with a shoulder injury and like Muzzin he has been out of action for over a month at this point as a result of his injury. While Muzzin appeared in a lone game for the Marlies Moore has now played in a pair of games in the AHL and he recorded 1 goal and 1 assists over those 2 games for a pretty strong showing on his part. Prior to the injury Moore had appeared in 22 games for the Leafs and was on pace for career highs in games played, goals, and assists.
