The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without forward Alexander Kerfoot for the next few games.

According to an official announcement from the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety, the league has suspended the veteran forward two games for a dangerous hit he delivered to former Colorado Avalanche teammate Erik Johnson. The hit was not particularly vicious however it was delivered at a very dangerous place on the ice and it resulted in Johnson going head first into the boards.

At the time of the incident Kerfoot was awarded a two minute minute penalty but it was obvious that Johnson and the Avalanche felt he should have been ejected for the play. Johnson was irate on the Avalanche bench when the officials announced it would only be a minor penalty and in this instance it appears as though the NHL's Department of Player Safety agreed that the wrong call had been made by the officials on the ice.
