Marc Johansson has signed a new deal.

It seems that one of the most skilled free agents still left up for grabs has just been taken off the board.

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet's David Amber, it now appears that veteran forward Marcus Johansson has signed a new deal. In spite of the rumors that had Johansson linked to just about every team in the National Hockey League it now appears that Johansson has chosen one of the National Hockey LEague's bottom feeders last season as his new destination. Amber is reporting that Johansson and the Buffalo Sabres have agreed to a 2 year contract that will pay Johansson a total of $9 million over the full term of that contract, working out to an average annual value and salary cap hit of $4.5 million per season.

Johansson of course is coming off a very strong performance with the Boston Bruins, this in spite of the fact that he was quickly injured after being traded to Boston by the New Jersey Devils at the 2019 NHL trade deadline. Following his injury however Johansson would record 4 goals and 7 assists for a total of 11 points over Boston's run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it was undoutebly that performance that put him on the radar for several NHL teams.
