What does the Wings have to sell?

Time for big decisions is coming. The Detroit Red Wings are not in a position to be buyers by the trade deadline but does that really means they need to be sellers and sacrifice quality players to rebuild for the future? What about the status quo?

The popular website SB Nation raised an interesting question by asking, “Do the Red Wings have the goods to be effective sellers?"  Remember when Ken Holland said “I don’t think anyone is untouchable,” earlier this year? What does it mean for the players? Here a closer look at who the wings could sell and is actually worth it according to SB Nation.

"Interestingly enough, Darren Dreger stated on NBC Sports last night that he believes Holland could flip Vanek as a rental to a contending team only to reacquire him once again during the summer. Brendan Smith could possibly also draw some interest from a team looking to add a depth defenseman to their roster. Despite a fairly poor showing on national television and in front of a reported 18 NHL scouts in attendance against the Blues on Wednesday night, Smith could be a player that Ken Holland could try and work into some scenario."

Nyquist and Tatar have circulated earlier but I don’t see how we could replace them without impacting the future of the organization. With plenty of good rental forward available, the price for them won’t be enough to force Ken Holland to move them.

So, are you ready to sell?
