Marchand finds sneaky way to cause trouble in sudden-death overtime!

You have to admit he’s quite creative!

The Columbus Blue Jackets sustained their first playoff loss last night when the fell 3-2 in overtime at the hands of the Boston Bruins.

Some experts believe the Jackets were rusty after more than a week off after eliminating the Tampa Bay Lightning in four games, however, John Tortorella’s team looked good, scoring two goals in 13 seconds to stun the Bruins.

What isn’t so stunning is that Bruins pest Brad Marchand once again gathered attention for a questionable move he pulled close to the face-off circle during overtime. As every second counts in the sudden-death period, Marchand found another sneaky way to cause trouble at the most crucial time.

While waiting on teammate Patrice Bergeron to win the face-off, Marchand made sure officials were looking away when he stomped on Cam Atkinson’s stick with his skate blade. The Bruins forward managed to break his opponent’s stick, which meant Boston had the upper hand for precious seconds while Atkinson went to retrieve a new one.

Atkinson was not a fan of this new antic, but is ready if Marchand comes at him again.

“Hey, if that’s how he wants to roll,” Atkinson said. “I don’t know, that’s who he is. I’m not going to let it get to me. It is what it is.”

You have to admit this is quite creative. However, it could have cost the Bruins if Marchand had been caught and sent to the penalty box.

You always have to keep an eye out on that guy!
