Marchand gets penalized for being Marchand in play that could have seriously injured him!

Atrocious officiating here, I gotta say...

There seems to be a different rulebook for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand in the NHL.

Sometimes, it makes sense. The Bruins' forward can be a pest and often deserves to be sent to the penalty box to think about his actions, however, it now seems that his reputation has caught up with him, taken over completely every decision made about him on the ice.

On Tuesday night, as the Bruins faced the Chicago Blackhawks in Boston, Marchand was the victim of a questionable penalty during the first period of the contest.

As he approached Collin Delia's net, Marchand was pushed in the crease by Hawks star player Patrick Kane and tried to avoid contact with the goalie. His left leg seemed to have barely touched Delia however the officials were quick to send him to the box for goalie interference.

At first, fans in the TD Bank arena held their breath as Marchand appeared to be hurt on the play. He did hit the net's post with some force and headed back to the dressing room instead of going to the penalty box.

However, he came back out moments later to serve his minor penalty.

Fans on social media, though they are usually quick to criticize Marchand, immediately called out the referees for the bad officiating and for handing the Bruins forward a "reputation penalty."

If it makes Bruins fans feel any better, later in the first period, Boston scored two quick goals of the contest, 37 seconds apart.

Marchand later scored the third goal of the Bruins, his 22nd of the season.

That's nice payback.
