Brad Marchand probably expected to hear from his haters - and pretty much every NHL fan - after he overstated the puck in a shootout attempt agains the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night.

The miscue ultimately led to the defeat, and also prompted some social media backlash at Marchand, who could have chosen to stay after from the chatter but stepped right into it.

Marchand starting things off when he tweeted a picture of himself kissing the Stanley Cup with a winking emoji Tuesday afternoon.

It did not stop fans from mocking the veteran forward, which prompted Marchand to chirp back some more.

After the shootout loss, Marchand acted like nothing happened.

“I was trying to get going and I just missed it,” Marchand said of the shootout miscue. “I’m not going to overthink it.”

He shouldn’t overthink the comments on social media either, we say…
