Anything to do with a lingering hand injury…?

Brad Marchand only wants to look forward. The Boston Bruins and the Blues are tied at 1 in the Stanley Cup final, as the series shift to St. Louis for Game 3.

The Bruins forward and his line mates - dubbed the “Perfection Line” by some during the postseason — have only managed to collect in the first two games of the series.

“Just have to continue to stick with it and stay positive. The game is over and done with, worry about the next one, ” Marchand said after Wednesday night’s overtime loss.

If the Bruins veteran has to talk about the past, he makes surprising comments about his play.

“Personally, I wasn’t good the last two games so we can’t be playing like that,” he admitted.

If Marchand can realize what’s happening and focus on improving his play, Bruins fans will only appreciate it. However, some are starting to wonder if the forward is struggling with the hand injury he suffered last Friday during a scrimmage. He collided with teammate Connor Clifton and was spotted in pain on the bench.

He also missed a few practices with the ailment. Could it be the reason why Marchand has struggled and been off since Game 1?

Marchand had several miscues Wednesday night, one of which led directly to a St. Louis goal as he left Jaden Schwartz wide open to give the Blues the  easy 2-on-1. He also had four giveaways in Game 2 and a big missed opportunity on a shorthanded 2-on-1 late in the second period.

He indeed needs to get better, but we will hope there is nothing preventing him - like a hand injury - from achieving the great plays we all know he’s capable of.
