Marcus Johansson delivers the most vicious and intentional hit of the year so far.

The New York Islanders are furious about this hit, and they have every right to be. While Washington Capital Marcus Johansson is not known to be a dirty player, there's just no excusing this kind of hit, and you can bet the National Hockey League will be taking a look at this one.

Johansson took some serious liberties with Islander Thomas Hickey when he delivered a vicious elbow directly to the head of the Hickey, and he did while launching his body upwards and driving it into Hickey' head no less.

While Johansson's skates didn't leave the ice prior to contact, there's no question this was an illegal hit, and it may even be reasonable to assume an intent to injure.
