Mario Lemieux finally speaks up about Josh Ho-Sang wearing his number!

National Hockey League rookie Josh Ho-Sang made headlines lately when he sported number 66 in his NHL debut, with some perceiving that as an act of disrespect towards NHL legend Mario Lemieux

Ho-Sang explained his decision by saying it’s not a retired number and aren’t we taught as children that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

“I know there have been some people that aren’t too happy about it, but for me it’s like the way guys wear No. 10 and No. 23, in Basketball and soccer,” said Josh Ho-Sang.

Mario Lemieux finally spoke about this whole controversy and When the “The Magnificent One” speaks, you listen kid. Here’s what he had to say to the Post Gazette:

“I’m fine with it, It’s just a number. Number 4 and number 9 were worn by great players (Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe, respectively), and they are not retired forever. Players can choose whatever number they want.” Said Mario Lemieux.

Mario Lemieux is one of the greatest players of all time. Lemieux played 915 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He scored 690 goals and registered 1033 assists for a total of 1723 points.

Now, case is closed.
