Markstrom pulls off a save of the year candidate

In case you missed it last night, the Vancouver Canucks posted four third period goals to earn a 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks dominated the game for 40 minutes, but could only solve Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom twice.

Markstrom made several 10 bell game savers, but none as big or as crucial as this INSANE two bad stack to rob Sharks forward Kevin LeBanc.

Check it out:

So nice, we’ve gotta see it twice:

The old school two pad stack! Shades of Captain Kirk!

What a save! It's nice to see Markstrom finally get some recognition league-wide. His All-Star Game nod woke up some folks out East about just how good Markstrom is, but it's still rare to hear his name in Vezina Trophy talk amongst fans. The truth is, he's third in the NHL in save percentage amongst goalies who have played 30+ games this season with a sparking .916 sv%. He trails Connor Hellebuyck and Andrei Vasilevski by a single percentage point.
