It was deja-vu all over again for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Boston Bruins once again eliminated the Canadian team in seven games, this time with a final score of 5-1 to move on to face the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round.

And Leafs forward Mitch Marner is very frustrated and will spend the summer thinking about a rematch against the Bruins next spring.

You read right.

Marner met with reporters after the heartbreaking Game 7 loss and mentioned all he would go into next season with vengeance on his mind.

“It sucks,” Marner told reporters postgame. “We believe in this team, we have a lot of confidence in this team. Obviously, when a season ends, it sucks. It’s got to stay with us, we’ve got to be hungry for this next year and make sure we come back pissed off.”

While it remains to be seen if the Leafs will once again face off against the Bruins in the first round of the postseason, it has been confirmed that the playoff format would remain the same for 2019-20, which means it could be likely to see the two teams go at it again.

However, the Leafs are expected to undergo several significant changes  this offseason, including one that will impact Marner as he is set to hit free agency on July 1st.

Leafs fans might be happy to see Marner’s passion and the fact that he wants to be in Toronto next spring to make Boston pay…
