An incredible moment for the hometown boy.

In case you missed, the St. Louis Blues welcomed hometown boy Patrick Maroon and the Tampa Bay Lightning last night.

Maroon, of course, left the Blues organization and signed with the Lightning as a free agent this past offseason, but not before winning a Stanley Cup with his hometown Blues last Spring. Blues fans were frankly shocked when general manager Doug Armstrong elected not to re-sign Maroon, but all of that consternation was set aside yesterday evening as Armstrong and the rest of the Blues organization presented Maroon with his Stanley Cup ring in front of a raucous St. Louis crowd.

Check it out:

Chills. Absolute chills.

How great is that!?

Kudos to the Blues organization for creating a special moment for not only the Maroon family, but for the entire Blues fanbase. There aren’t many born and bred St. Louis players in the league, though that’s changing year by year, let alone Stanley Cup champions. To have a hometown boy, a fan favourite on a Cup winning team… those players come around MAYBE once in a lifetime. Again, kudos to the Blues for doing things the right way.
