Martschini fined for kicking opponent in the face!

Sometimes something happens in the hockey world that’s just too crazy to believe. Like… oh, I don’t know… maybe like kicking an opponent in the face with a f***ing skate!?

Say what!?

In a recent European Champions League game between Swiss club EV Zug and Finnish club Tampere, Zug forward Lino Martschini straight up BOOTED his opponent in the face, purposely, while down on the ice.

Again… SAY WHAT!?

Check it out:

W… T… F!?!?!?!

This is hockey! You can’t kick a dude in the face! You’re wearing skates, dude! WTF!?!?!

Oh… and an even bigger WTF to the league for handing out just a €600 fine! That’s less than a $700 USD fine. According to Martschini's Wikipedia profile, he earns more than €2 million per season with Zug through the 2022/23 season.

Say it with me now: “WTF!”

Interestingly enough, Martschini played his junior hockey with the OHL's Peterborough Petes before returning back home to Switzerland to play with Zug. He managed a respectable 41 goals and 114 points over two seasons with the Petes but was passed over in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft despite outpacing Petes teammate Ryan Spooner who was drafted by the Boston Bruins.
