The Matt Beleskey experiment is not turning in the results that the Bruins where hoping for, and he may find himself with a new home before next year’s campaign begins.

The 28-year-old Left Winger from Windsor, Ontario has 18 goals and 27 points across his two seasons in Boston. Unfortunately, he only has 3 goals and five assists across 40 games this year.

Those are numbers that just won’t cut it, especially considering the Bruins signed Beleskey to a 4-year contract paying the winger $3.8 million per year through the 2019-20 season. Granted, Beleskey’s value isn’t entirely based on scoring, but with a +/- of -11 this season, he unfortunately hasn’t been able to find his game this year in Boston.

Depending on what happens down the stretch and into the playoffs, the Bruins may revisit dealing Matt Beleskey in the summer as they look for ways to save money that will go toward new contracts for guys like Ryan Spooner and David Pastrnak. Because let’s face it, the Bruins need to do whatever is necessary to make room for Pastrnak’s second NHL contract after putting together a 30-goal season as a 20-year-old player. - As per Joe Haggerty.

All this suggests that Boston may be looking to trade the winger given the chance this offseason. That could be tricky considering how this season has played out.

While Beleskey does have potential as a role-player on the third or fourth lines, his relatively steep contract hit and inconsistent play probably sours his trade value a bit.

Still, his utility and salary could make him a good moving piece in a larger trade deal. Whether or not the Bruins can move Beleskey may very well hinge on whether or not they are willing to retain any of his salary going forward.
