Matt Duchene might not report to camp
Keystone Press

Matt Duchene has been quite clear about his desire to leave the Colorado Avalanche. However, although rumors are still ongoing about a potential trade to ship him out of Denver, the forward is still sitting around and waiting for something to happen - like many of the team’s fans, unfortunately.

TSN insider Darren Dreger spoke out on WGR550 in Buffalo about the possibility that Duchene might choose to not even show up at the Avs' training camp in September.

Nobody wants to go through the awkwardness and potential ugliness of training camp opening and Matt Duchene perhaps not being there. I’m not suggesting that that is going to be the case, but sooner than later either Duchene or Pat Brisson or somebody from that side is going to step up and say, ‘Alright. Enough is enough.'" Dreger commented.

Duchene, who will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in 2019, had a rough season last year - along with the entire Avalanche roster - recording 18 goals and 41 points in 77 games.

Training camp is about a month away so Duchene and general manager Joe Sakic will have to get along sometime soon. Or else, the 26-year-old player might choose to pull a Drew Doughty or a P.K. Subban on the Avalanche and simply not report to the team.
