Matt Duchene price is “steep” but could it be the solution for the Bruins?

There's a lot of teams who still believe in their playoff chances, but the Colorado Avalanches aren't one of them. Joe Sakic wants to take advantage of the situation where there's few sellers for the number of buyers and ask a boatload for his trading chips.

Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch writes that if the Avalanche are going to deal Duchene, not only will Sakic want a top-four defenceman, a top prospect and a No. 1 pick in return, the indications are there has to be more in the deal for Colorado.

We know for a fact that Don Sweeney turned down Joe Sakic when he came asking for Brandon Carlo, but those two men could settle on another trade. The Bruins have a lot of young players coming and Matt Duchene could be the missing piece to Boston's offense.

While it's impossible to know for sure what Sakic could want from the Bruins, according to Bruce Garrioch, it could look like this: Torey Krug (top-4 defenceman) + Jakob Zboril (top Bruins prospect) + a first round pick.

What do you think, is it something the Bruins can afford?
