Matt Murray could break hardest record possible in finals.

He would only be the second to reach this mark.

Matt Murray could break hardest record possible in finals.

Matt Murray's story is quite amazing. After an abbreviated playoff start due to a freak injury, he rejoined the lineup and replaced an admittedly brilliant Fleury to carry the team to the Cup finals. Murray was stellar and is a big part of why the Penguins will face the Predators this week.

If you ask him, he will tell you how much a team effort it was and why his teammates made all the difference. Of course he's right, hockey is played with more than goalies, but his personal performance was important. However, above all the team glory, he has the chance to reached a historic mark if the finals go the whole 7 games.

It's a special twist of events that had Murray in the finals last year, but he deserved the chance he has this year 100%. Ironically, if he reach Plante's mark, it would mean he had a tougher path to the Cup than expected. Anyhow, good luck to him!
