For us and hockey players around the National Hockey League, arenas are made for hockey. The reality however is that they also hold concerts and other sporting events that can effect the ice.

And clearly, something happened in Columbus prior to Friday night’s season opener for the Blue Jackets as they hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Players were introduced on the ice, cannon went off and the 2019-20 season kicked off for the Blue Jackets, however, it felt like many games had already taken place on the ice of the NationWide Arena.

So much that Maple Leafs player couldn’t help but bitch about it and that’s when the camera caught Auston Matthews and William Nylander bashing the ice quality during the game.

It however did not prevent teammate Mitch Marner from recording his goal on the season in the first period. But let’s just hope no one gets injured.
