For the past several weeks now,  the name of forward Josh Anderson of the Columbus Blue Jackets has been coming up in trade chatter.

There is now a strong sense that he won’t be back in Columbus next season and that he will get traded in the offseason, once the playoff tournament is over, even though he is set to become a restricted free agent.

Anderson’s name has been heard more than once in Montreal, where Canadiens insider Eric Engels of Sportsnet believe there could be a deal made to land him.

Often compared to Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson, Anderson recorded 27 goals and 47 points in 82 games last year. Before the season was halted back in March, he had managed to post just a goal and four points in just 26 contests due to several injuries that kept him off the ice.

Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen has confirmed that Anderson is on the trade block and could finally convince Marc Bergevin in Montreal to acquire his services.

That’s where Max Domi comes in. Engels suggests offering the Habs’ striker in return for Anderson. Domi also struggled this season, but will ask for a hefty raise in the summer. In 71 games this season, he tallied 17 goals and 27 assists for a total of 44 points.

Fans in Montreal may not like the idea of Domi getting moved - again! To reassure them, Engels also mentioned that a young prospect or picks could do the trick to acquire Anderson.

Would you pull the trigger on this deal if you were one of the GMs involved?
