McAvoy debuts in the NHL a total success.

Last night was the first night for this season’s playoff and we had amazing games. The most intense matchup was probably between the Bruins and the Sens, even with a few players out.

Bruins were missing two important D-man on their line up, but that wasn’t enough to stop them.  Most importantly, the young Charlie Mcavoy had his first chance with the pros, and he did great. The 19 y/o defenceman was set to join Providence Bruins, until he got the call from the big club. It's his third team this year and, more importantly, his third Playoff series in three different leagues. 

With Krug and Carlo out, McAvoy got a full load of ice time (24:11), finishing second among all players in yesterday’s game, just behind Chara (25:32). He even had more ice time than Erik Karlsson, known for his iron-man stamina! The 14th overall pick in 2016, played well on offense and defense and played on the PP unit, he was also on the ice for the game winning goal. For a player who comes in the game without really having time to analyze everything that’s happened to him in the last hours, he was smooth and collected with and without the puck.

Yesterday was only the tip of the iceberg for the young American, who still has a lot to show us. Some expert compare Mcavoy to a guy like Doughty or Subban. He loves the game and would do anything to help Bruins get past the Sens in this round.

This year with Boston University, the 6’1’’ D-man had 26 points in 38 games, finishing 6th on the team just behind teammate Jordan Greenway, with whom he won the gold medal during the World Juniors this year.
