McDavid gets roasted by his own teammate Lucic!

When Edmonton Oilers star player Connor McDavid was suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy, he wasn’t happy. 

The story never said if he was mad at himself for pulling the dangerous move or angry writhe NHL’s Player Safety department for punishing him, however, even his head coach Ken Hitchcock had made it known that the captain was pissed off. 

On Wednesday, following yet another suspension to a star player as Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres is also serving a two-game ban, Milan Lucic commented on the fact that the league is now treating everyone the same. 

“Everyone has to be treated evenly, I guess, for dirty plays, if you want to call them that, or head shots,”  Lucic told the Edmonton Sun . “I mean, those are three guys with not much history. They aren’t out there picking heads or trying to hurt guys, by any means.

“But [the NHL] is trying to keep the head shots down. [Star players] get dinged up a little more with their salaries coming off on a game-to-game basis when you sit out.”

Lucic wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to take a shot at his own captain and revealed that he roasted McDavid when he got suspended. 

“When Connor got suspended, I told him we’ve now been suspended for the same amount of games. So you can put him in the same category as me, if you want,” Lucic said.

Maybe that’s why McDavid was so pissed off…
