McDavid makes a huge announcement regarding the World Championship!

For fans in Edmonton watching their Oilers being eliminated from the postseason was a tough blow, this despite the fact that by all accounts they greatly exceeded expectations. However for the rest of Canada it was also a potential opportunity.

Team Canada is currently at the World Championship and with the Oilers out of the playoffs many wondered if Connor McDavid would opt to represent his country, he is after all one of Canada's biggest stars. 

Unfortunately according to a report from TSN, McDavid has made the decision not to participate at the tournament, although at this time no reason has been given for his absence.

Coming off a long season as well as a tough playoff run, McDavid may simply need the rest. It could also be a result of the fact that he may have been playing through some injuries in the postseason, injuries he now needs time to recover from. 

One thing is certain though, no McDavid for Canada at the World Championship tournament.
