McDavid responds following Hitchcock’s plea to NHL and referees for more fair treatment

In case you missed it, the Vancouver Canucks scored a well earned victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night and it was earned in large part because the Canucks were able to keep superstar Connor McDavid from scoring.

Post game Oilers head coach Ken Hitchcock made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the way in which the Canucks handled McDavid, saying that the “tug of war on him was absolutely ridiculous.”

Oilers fans were happy that Hitch came to the defence of his player, but how does McDavid himself feel about things? TSN’s Ryan Rishaug asked McDavid himself on whether or not he gets a fair shake from the officials and, wouldn’t you know it, the always classy McDavid had a classy answer:

McDavid didn’t want to comment on the officials. Appreciates his coach having his back, but said no good comes from complaining about the refs himself. Said it’s a tough job that he wouldn’t want to have to try and do.

As for complaining and whining for calls… well, that’s Hitch’s job:
