McDavid seen taking face-offs, participating in drills.

Last June's frist overall pick in the draft,Connor McDavid is closing in on his return to action.

Yesterday, he took face-offs and participated in drills during the morning skate with his teammates. Although he hasn't been cleared for contact yet, his return seems sooner rather than later.

Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal wrote that head coach Todd McLellan and his staff are constantly asking for updates, knowingly perfectly that speculating on McDavid's return is still irrational:

"We're asking each other, 'Can he play tonight?' but that's not real. We're all aware of him getting closer and being more involved. I think he has found a way, as have some of the others who have returned to the ice, to energize our group. They're able to take some reps at high speed ... it drags everybody else along. As soon as we can get him back, we will."

No matter McLellan says, it is obviously a big boost just to see him on the ice for the fans and for mcDavid's teammates.
