A veiled threat from a member of Team USA to one of his countrymen?

It sounds like some people heard the comments made by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel following their tough loss to Team Canada on Wednesday night, and it sounds like they aren't very happy about thos comments.

For those who missed it, Kessel tore Team USA a new one on social media, effectively mocking the team's decision not to select him to the roster, this despite the fact that he was a candidate for the Conn Smythe in this most recent Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"Just sitting around the house tonight w my dog," said Kessel via social media. "Felt like I should be doing something important, but couldn't put my finger on it."

While he did not mention Kessel by name, Team USA forward David Backes told the Associated Press' Stephen Whyno that tweets "don’t get lost in the fray and those comments are there and have been read and I think will be remembered."

It's a poorly veiled threat directed at Kessel, but weather Backes means that he will continue to be snubbed by USA hockey, or that players will seek revenge during the National hockey League season is unclear.

It's big talk from a player who's team really didn't show up at this tournament, talk that is likely to elicit a chuckle from Kessel if he's ever made aware of it.
