Michael Del Zotto agrees to PTO contract to keep career alive!

There was nothing sadder on the opening free agency day back in October to see Michael Del Zotto pleading his case live on TSN, telling teams across the National Hockey League why he would be a great player to sign as a free agent for the 2020-21 season.

But the day went by and no team called him and we didn’t hear anything interest for the services of the veteran defenseman in the past months.

Until today! The Columbus Blue Jackets and Del Zotto have agreed to a pro tryout contract for the upcoming season.

The 30-year-old was part of the Anaheim Ducks blue line corps struggled during the 2019-20 season, recording two goals and 15 points in 49 games.

He will get a chance to prove the Blue Jackets he can still be a valuable player on the ice without taking precious ice time away from younger blue liners.

While he didn’t succeed in convincing teams to sign him on back at the opening of free agency, he might be able to persuade Columbus to give him this shot to keep his career alive.

That's a great Christmas present for the veteran player.
