Michel Therrien again calls out his captain, this time publicly!

Earlier this summer the Montreal Canadiens were forced to deal with a massive media scandal after it was reported that head coach Michel Therrien had made some brutal comments about his captain Max Pacioretty during a charity golf tournament.

Specifically it was reported that Therrien had called Pacioretty the worst captain in the organization's history, and furthermore had labeled him a soft player, but despite several respected journalists moving forward with this report the Canadiens denied the entire affair and it was eventually swept under the rug.

Now however we have new reports of Michel Therrien calling out his captain in a very public fashion on Monday, although his words were far more carefully crafted this time around to be sure. Therrien called out Pacioretty for not fighting hard enough for possession of the puck, something that would appear to echo the "soft" comments he was alleged to have made this summer.

"You can't always expect to have the puck come to you. Sometimes you have to go get it."

That wasn't all either, according to NHL.com's Arpon Basu, Therrien also pointed to the fact that forward Alexander Radulov does exactly what he feels Pacioretty is failing to do himself. In fact Therrien stated that Radulov never waits for his line mates to battle for the puck, but instead does the work himself.

It will be interesting to see where this goes as Pacioretty is now coming off a summer, a World Cup and a regular season that have all seen him the target of focused criticism.
