Head coach Mike Babcock of the Toronto Maple Leafs was almost at a loss of words when asked about the stellar performance of Richard Panik.

Richard Panik of the Chicago Blackhawks was once a Maple Leaf but was not able to clinch a spot on the team and was traded last season by the Toronto coaching staff.

Today Panik surpasses Toronto star Auston Matthews with 6 goals so far into the season.

Babcock states that obviously it is unfortunate that Panik wasn't able to maintain his position with the Maple Leafs and that sometimes it takes players "a few stops" before they can find their rhythm and start putting away goals almost every night.

Blackhawks fans and coaching staff are happy to have Panik on the first line with Toews and Tyler Motte, he already has a hat trick this season and has built a momentum that can carry the team forward for another win.

Watch tonight as the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Calgary Flames at the United Center at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
