Minnesota Wild connected to big time trade rumor.

The Minnesota Wild have been connected to a very significant trade rumor.

Over the past several days the rumors that the Dallas Stars are interested in trading their #3 overall pick in the draft has built significant momentum, and now we have some juicy details regarding that potential deal.

NHL.com's Scott Burnside is the latest to drop some key nuggets of information, here's what he believes the Stars are looking for:

That has created an avenue for Dallas GM Jim Nill to use the third overall pick as an asset or part of a package of assets to acquire a young, everyday player, presumably a defenseman, who could help the team right now and moving forward.

Between interview sessions with the draft eligible players gathered in Buffalo, Nill said on Thursday he's received more calls about the third overall pick than he imagined he might when the Stars moved from 8th to 3rd at the draft lottery.

Burnside also believes that the Wild would be one of the ideal trade targets for the Stars, both because the Stars have need of a defenseman, and because the Wild as they are currently constructed are likely to have to leave one of their quality blue liners exposed.

So who could be on the chopping block for the Wild? Burnside named Jonas Brodin, Marco Scandella and Matt Dumba as potential trade targets.
