With 5 losses in a row, many believe that Marc Bergevin is now ready to swing a deal for the Montreal Canadiens before it is too late and the season goes down the sewer.
It has become clear by now that many changes he made during the offseason are not paying off and a shakeup is needed to get back on track fast.
To many, the number one target of the Habs should be 27 year old superstar John Tavares.
But what would be the cost to acquire him? The site Recrutes tried to hammer down an offer that would get Garth Snow to consider trading him away before the end of the season and it would be an hefty one.
I would think such a deal would have to involve Alex Galchenyuk, [Noah] Juulsen, [Ryan] Poehling / [Joni] Ikonen, [Charlie] Lindgren and at least one first-round pick before the Islanders would even consider pulling the trigger.
A hefty price for sure, but one which may make sense for both teams. Juulsen is essentially replaced by the development of Mete and drafting of Josh Brook. I think the club views Juulsen as a future second-pairing defenceman..and Mete alone looks to have already proven that he can, at the very least, be a solid second-pairing NHL defenceman.
Assuming Tavares would agree to sign an extension with the Canadiens beforehand, would you be willing to offer that much for his services?
