The Montreal Canadiens have put an end to speculation regarding one of their centers.
According to a report from ESPN's Pierre Lebrun several teams had called Montreal during their struggles to try and pry center Paul Byron away from the team, but Montreal never had the intention of trading him.
While Montreal has certainly demonstrated they have several positions of weakness this season, arguably the weakest position on their entire roster is the center posiiton, and the decision to re-sign Byron is likely one Montreal felt i t absolutely had to make.
According to Lebrun the Contract carries an average annual value of $1.16 million, not a massive deal by any stretch, but one Montreal felt it needed to get done in the short-term.
