More bad news for Leafs veteran after demanding a trade.

Earlier in the week Toronto Maple Leafs veteran Brooks Laich effectively demanded a trade through the media, frustrated after having spent the entire season in the American Hockey League.

Unfortunately for Laich while it appears that the Leafs are willing to acquiense to his demands, there may not be any NHL teams interested in giving him an opportunity given his $4.5 million dollar cap hit.

On Wednesday it was revealed via a report from Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston that Laich had cleared waivers, and while it wasn't much of a surprise to us, it has to be a massive disappointment and a sobering reality for Laich.

There is still the possibility that the Leafs deal him while retaining salary, but they would only do o if they feel the return is worth taking on more salary against the cap. There now appears to be a very good chance that Laich's trade demands may end up getting him nowehere.
