More details of Bruins’ trade for Johansson emerge

In case you missed it, the Boston Bruins acquired forward Marcus Johansson from the New Jersey Devils prior to today’s 3pm ET trade deadline.

]Heading to New Jersey in the deal are a second and fourth round draft choice.



Devils reporter Corey Masisak is now reporting that the Devils have retained 40% of Johansson’s $4.5 million salary. Johansson is slated to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason.

BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, February 25, that the team has acquired forward Marcus Johansson from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
New Jersey will retain 40 percent of Johansson's remaining salary.  
Johansson, 28, has appeared in 48 games with the Devils this season, totaling 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward enjoyed his best offensive season with the Washington Capitals in 2016-17, recording 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points with a plus-25 rating while playing in all 82 regular season games. Over his nine-year NHL career with New Jersey and Washington, Johansson has skated in 578 games, compiling 119 goals and 212 assists for 331 points. He has also added nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 72 career postseason games.  
The Landskrona, Sweden native was originally selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (24th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
