Several pundits have suggested that the rumors at and leading up to the National Hockey League Entry Draft will be wild this year, and the goaltending rumors alone have been enough to make that prediction an accurate one.

Almost immediately after the Dallas Stars were eliminated from postseason contention those rumors reached a fever pitch, with names like Henrik Lundqvist and Marc-Andre Fleury being bandied about, something that would have been considered unthinkable a year ago, and something many consider unthinkable even now.

The Marc-Andre Fleury rumors have gained the most traction as a result of the play of Matt Murray, and just today it was announced that head coach Mike Sullivan would once again turn to Murray in the starting role for Game 6, an elimination game for the Penguins. The Fourth Period is now reporting that Fleury and one other veteran will likely be targeted by the Stars this summer.

From The Fourth Period:

The Stars could go after Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard, whom the Wings are expected to move this summer.

Howards owns a limited no-trade clause where he can list up to 10 teams he won't accept a deal to, but could be open to a move to Dallas.

Nill could also knock on Pittsburgh's door next month and see if the Penguins are willing to move Marc-Andre Fleury due to the emergence of young netminder Matt Murray.

Fleury also has three-years remaining on his deal, though his salary cap hit is $5 million. He owns a limited no-movement clause where he can list up to 12 teams he won't accept a trade to.

There's no question Dallas has a need to fill, and both the Red Wings and the Penguins could view the cap relief and as well as whatever they get in return in the trade as a positive move for their clubs. The question becomes how Dallas, who already has a lot invested in two inconsistent goaltenders, will make the money makes sense.
