The mother of a former National Hockey League enforcer has made some truly stunning comments in a recent report from the Vancouver Province, comments that effectively imply she believes her son is already dead in all but the medical sense.

Brenda Johnson, the mother of 37-year-old former NHL enforcer Stephen Peat made her comments this week, and again considering this woman is his mother, her comments are truly stunning.

“It’s very difficult … you’ve kind of lost that person, but you can’t really grieve because they’re still alive,” said Johnson as per Douglas Quan.

Peat is by all accounts in a very sorry state with his father already having spoken publicly about his son's struggles in the hopes of getting him some help. However Peat continues to deny that anything is wrong.

However Peat's former friend Howie Zaron has confirmed the account being portrayed by the parents of Peat.

”This is the worst he’s been,” Zaron said. “We’ve seen Peaty and we are gravely concerned.”

His father suggested last month that he was afraid Peat would hurt himself or someone else, and it seems his mother believes it's only a matter of time before he's gone.
