Must See: All 19 goals from Marner’s epic rookie season

While fellow Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Auston Matthews managed to grab most of the spotlight in Toronto last season, Mitch Marner was happy to lie in the shadows and wait for his opportunities. Then when opportunity knocked, Marner answered to the tune of 19 goals and 61 points in just 77 games. The dynamic 20-year-old from Markham, Ont burst onto the scene with the Leafs this season and, were it not for Matthews’ 40 goal, 69 point performance, Leafs fans would be talking about Marner as the Leafs’ most exciting rookie since Wendel Clark.

Now, in the dog days of summer, we finally pay Marner the respect he deserves for such an outstanding rookie campaign. Check out this highlight package that includes all 19 goals from his 2016-17 season, courtesy of Youtuber NHLHighlightsHD:

So sick. It will be interesting to see how things change for Marner in 2017-18. Will teams hone in on him more? Or, will they be so preoccupied with Matthews’ line that Marner soars to even higher heights? What’s a reasonable expectation for this kid next season? Certainly 20 goals is attainable, but could he hit 30 or more? How about 30 goals and 75 points?
