Hockey is dangerous but this incident takes up a notch. Former National Hockey League forward Daniel Paille is now playing in Europe, after he signed a contract  with Brynas of the Swedish Hockey League.

The former first round pick of 2002 had an awesome season last year, recording 17 goals and 18 assists in 65 games. A few days ago, his Brynas side was playing Adler Mannheim of the German league in a Champions Hockey League game and something completely nasty took place.

While Brynas was up 2-1 in the game when Paille was the victim of a brutal, blindside hit by Thomas Larkin. Paille stayed down for a while before eventually being helped off the ice by the Brynas trainers. Here's the hit:

Now according to NHL insider Darren Dreger, Brynas is not happy with the 4-game suspension that was given to Larkin, and considered boycotting the rest of the tournament. Now, they are considering legal action.

"It is just speculation for now, but considering the head injury and the shoulder injury, it is at least being discussed," adds Dreger on Insider Trading.
