Former Washington Capitals player Stanislav Galiev has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount of money for a brutal spear in the KHL. The offence occurred late in a game between Galiev’s AkBars Kazan and HC Dynamo Moscow when Galiev decided to go “below the belt”.

Check it out:

Ouch. That’s gotta hurt. Galiev was awarded a major penalty on the play and also assessed a game misconduct.

Since leaving the Washington Capitals system to return to Russia, Galiev has just two goals and six points in 15 games with AkBars Kazan.

KHL's Disciplinary Committee has announced that they reviewed an episode in the game between HC Dynamo Moscow and AkBars Kazan teams. At games 57th minute, AkBars Stanislav Galiev was penalized for the penalty under rule 537g (Slashing). Was awarded a major penalty and automatically awarded a game misconduct (5+20min).
