Who needs an offseason?

There may not be any hockey being played right now, but that hasn’t stopped Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov from putting in some serious offseason work.

In an interview with a Russian sports publication, Kucherov’s agent Dan Milstein says the Russian superstar skipped vacation this year and has been training on ice six days a week. Milstein says Kucherov had synthetic ice installed in the garage of his Tampa home so he could stickhandle on his own. He says his client feels this is the year for the Tampa Bay Lightning to win the Stanley Cup.

Kucherov spent a couple weeks with family in Russia after the World Championships, but has since returned to America, where he's gotten right back to business. The 24-year-old scored a career-high 40 goals with the Lightning last season and has two seasons left on a contract with a $4.76 million annual cap hit. Kucherov finished eighth in the league MVP voting and is sure to see a hefty pay increase in a couple of years. Milstein says Kucherov wants to remain in Tampa Bay long-term, so look for him to potentially double his current salary when he's a restricted free agent.

Here is some of his offseason training in action:
