While the spotlight shone brightly on Ottawa Senators forward Alex Burrows in his return to Rogers Arena, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom decided to steal a bit of the spotlight for just a little while.
After an awful first period turnover by defenseman Troy Stecher, Sens forwards Burrows and Tom Pyatt were left all alone in front of Markstrom, but the giant goalie made a sprawling glove save on Burrows on the doorstep to keep the former Canuck off the score sheet.

My goodness, that’s an incredible save! While it’s only two teams into the season, chances are you’ll be seeing this save on year end highlights next spring.
Unfortunately for Markstrom and the Canucks, the team eventually fell to the Sens 3-2 in the shootout. Fortunately, for Canucks fans however, Markstrom looked solid making 40 saves on the evening.
