Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin went the extra mile to surprise kids from the the American Special Hockey Association.
For the past four years, Ovechkin has developed a relationship with the ASHA and many of its players by hosting a hockey event for the organization. On Friday, they played street hockey outside Capital One Arena before the Capitals' preseason game against the St. Louis Blues.
“They play hard,” Ovechkin said to the Washington Post. “They lower me. A couple guys tried to hit me. I had fun as well. … They know me, and I know them.”
