When Ron Hextall returned to the Philadelphia Flyers franchise in 2013 and was promoted  to the general manager position the following year he promised to bring about change within the organization. Since then, it’s hard to argue with Hextall’s plan, as he has acquired an additional 18 draft picks and ushered several of those selections into the team’s roster.

Youngsters like Travis Konecny, Ivan Provorov and, of course, Nolan Patrick were all drafted under Hextall’s regime and all figure to be a big part of the team’s future. Two of those players, Provorov and Patrick, have a history together that could serve the Flyers’ well for years to come. You see, the pair starred together in the WHL with the league-leading Brandon Wheat Kings for two seasons.

In fact, check out this sweet goal by Patrick off a sneaky breakout pass from Provorov during the 2015-16 WHL Final:

Oh man. Buckle up, Flyers fans. If there’s one thing the Flyers have been missing it’s a dynamic player like Patrick who can burn a team with such relative ease.  With preseason games and Patrick’s shoulder injury finally healing up, let’s hope that we see more from this pair sooner rather than later.
