It was a good year for 19-year-old defenseman Jakob Chychrun. His first season in the NHL confirmed that Chychrun is undoubtedly an incredibly talented rising star in Arizona and across the league.

Proof of that claim can be found in his rookie season numbers. He played in 68 games for the Coyotes, putting up 7 goals and 13 assists for 20 points, along with 47 penalty minutes and a rather unfortunate +/- rating of minus-14. Despite that last stat, the former Sarnia Sting phenom has done nothing but impress, and that has extended into the summer.

Instagram is the place to keep tabs on Chychrun, and he's not taking it easy this summer:

Chychrun was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round as the 16th overall pick at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'2, 205 lb two-way defenseman proved he belonged with the club in Arizona early last season and has stuck with the team ever since.

His first NHL goal came against Carey Price on October 20, 2016, and he has proven to be equally adept played on both ends of the ice. He never lost his drive, even as the Coyotes season wound down and their post-season dreams snuffed out.

There's nothing not to like about this young blueliner, which is excellent news in Arizona.
