Brandon Saad wasted no time picking up where he left off in Chicago. The 24-year old made his preseason debut in his return with the Blackhawks as he lit the lamp with a hat-trick, leading his team to a 6-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. The chemistry was not lost with his old teammates as Saad scored on a fancy passing play fed by Patrick Kane from Patrick Sharp in his second goal of the game. Check out all his goals here:

Saad was reacquainted with his old team this offseason after a blockbuster trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets that saw young rising star Artemi Panarin go the other way. Salary cap issues forced the Blackhawks to unleash Saad earlier in his career after four seasons with them, two of which were Stanley Cup winners. They are thrilled to have him back as the winger has scored 20+ goals in each of his last three seasons.

He may still be young but Saad has already been in the league for five years now so the Blackhawks will look for him to have a bigger role this season. Right now he appears to be on the first line with Jonathan Toews centering and Richard Panik on the opposite wing. He has also been a stud on special teams in his career and looks to be seen on the first power play unit with Kane and Toews – scary thought for opposing teams. Saad has a career high of 31 goals in a season and there is no doubt that he will push to surpass that total this year.
