The Chicago Blackhawks haven’t had many top prospect to speak of the last few years. Sure they’ve graduated players like Teuvo Teravainen, Nich Schmaltz and Ryan Hartman into the NHL and they managed to nab Artemi Panarin from the KHL, but true top-end homegrown talent is tough to manufacture when you’re constantly picking in the latter picks of the first round, as the Hawks have been the past 10 years. But… there’s always an outlier.

Alex DeBrincat, the team’s 2nd round pick (39th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has quickly established himself as the team’s top prospect and is showing why he was the CHL’s Player of the Year in May. The 19 year old capped off an incredible junior hockey career with the Erie Otters by potting a remarkable 65 goals and 127 points in just 63 games. It was his third consecutive 100+ point season, proving that the kid is ready for primetime.

And if you weren’t sold, check out this incredible OT goal in the Traverse City Tournament final between the Hawks and Columbus Blue Jackets:

Did you see it? That’s a backhand, mid-air goal from DeBrincat. Talk about hand-eye-coordination! This kid’s got the goods and we can’t wait to see what he can do in Hawks training camp later this week.
